Guernsey Bathing
This gorgeous brightly coloured watercolour has not lost any of it’s luminescence despite it’s age.
The subject of this painting is a beach scene in Guernsey, Following a touch of research the likely location is Le Jaonnet Bay, with its rocky outcrops. There is a steep path down to the beach here although access to the sand is only possible at lower tides.
Archer really captures the mood and feel of a 1920s / 1930s bathing party, with the ladies in their colourful bathing suits and swimming caps gathering on the beach on a hot summers day.

CONDITION: This watercolour is in good condition, but requires a little cleaning.
