Painted in 1919, the year after the first world war ended. This is painted in a subtle and sensitive style, but at the same time has great character and superb colouring,
The location of the painting has yet to be established, but the atmospheric experience of the painting draws you to feel that you might be in Cumbria may be in the Autumn, a place where Archer visited. Or the North Yorkshire Moors where he visited also. Photographic evidence may be discovered in the future.
