This is a small sketchbook style painting, but has great character and superb colouring,
A piece of rural England is depicted in this painting. With a church tower nestled among hills and country buildings. Two cows are grazing in the grassy field under a leafy summer tree.
A photograph has been found in Archer’s photo albums of a similar scene as in the painting.

PROVENANCE: In Archer’s portfolio of paintings as part of the private family collection, UK.
INSCRIPTIONS: No signature on the front, the back has a small pencil mark in one corner, possibly A.L.S initials?
CONDITION: Slight yellow ageing, but colours still bright.
